Yes – ChatGPT answers shopping questions with specific, linked products, and WooCommerce products appear when three conditions hold: its crawlers can reach the pages, the pages carry machine-readable product facts, and the product feed meets OpenAI’s spec. No tool or agency can force inclusion, and you should distrust any that promises it.
Where ChatGPT’s product answers come from:
- Its search index. Organic citations pull heavily from Bing’s index via OAI-SearchBot. A store that’s blocked at the edge or absent from Bing isn’t in the pool.
- Product feeds. OpenAI’s merchant feed spec defines required fields – including eligibility flags that decide whether a feed is considered at all. A feed missing them is invisible regardless of quality.
- The pages themselves. Adobe’s July 2026 benchmark found roughly a third of retail product-page content isn’t machine-readable – specs in image files, facts in JavaScript tabs. A model can’t recommend what it can’t parse.
There’s a fourth input you don’t control directly: off-site citations. Models weight independently validated sources – reviews, editorial coverage, community mentions – heavily when choosing what to recommend. On-page work makes you eligible; off-site reputation gets you chosen.
The free Blaze AI Discovery plugin checks the three conditions you do control: crawler access per bot, a 0-100 readability score per product, and feed validation against the current OpenAI spec.
