Yes – you need a PayPal Business account, and it’s free to open.
To accept PayPal at your WooCommerce checkout, connect a PayPal Business account (not a personal one). A personal account isn’t set up to receive commercial payments through a store gateway, and you’ll hit limits or verification problems if you try to use one.
Opening a Business account costs nothing – you provide your business details, and you only pay PayPal’s standard per-transaction fee when a sale actually goes through. There’s no monthly fee for the account itself, and no extra charge from WooCommerce for using the official PayPal Payments plugin.
